At the moment it is unclear if Apple knows about this security problem or not, because while it is already fixed in the first betas of OS X 10.11, it is left unpatched in the current release of OS X 10.10.4 or in the current beta of OS X 10.10.5.
I originally treated this as an OSX 10.10.5 issue. I trashed Finder and Sidebar (as I thought initially it could have something to do with high volume of tags) plists, but none of this seems to have anything to do with it.
So I've tried the latest firmware update for my Promise Pegasus R4, I tried the RAID with OS 10.10.4, OS 10.10.5, and on another system running OS 10.7.5, and all produce the same result: Mac OS's Finder starts to pause, freeze, hang for up to 10 mins.
I did the following to create a headless AWS EC2 instance with RHEL 7.2 and GNOME desktop. I am trying to connect to it from OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 but I see a black screen and few seconds later NoMachine gets disconnected.
1. Clean install yosemite2. Change security type on router to WPA23. Turned off handoff on the mac4. Chage security permission for my network in the keychain utility to allow all programs.

The latest Brave update 88.1.19.86 no longer works in MacOS Yosemite 10.10.5. Yet the update made no mention of ceasing to support Yosemite. Brave desperately needs an OS Technical Support page listing the OS versions supported by an update to avoid such problems. It also needs to list the Brave version on the download page. 2b1af7f3a8
