Isaac graduated from Hyde Park Academy in 2007 and attended the University of Miami.[15] The same year, he co-founded the production company Arc Productions with his college roommate and colleague Jonathan Perry.[16] In his early college career, Isaac branched out as it was the first time he had "his life" in Miami.[17][18] His father, a Chicago native who had moved to Miami in 2004, became an English teacher at a nearby charter school.[5] In his downtime in college, Isaac studied German to improve his English skills.[5] Toward the end of his college career, he decided to drop out in order to pursue acting.[19] Around this time, he played a supporting role in the comedy Change of Heart.[20] He subsequently moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting.[21] [162]
While making a trip to Chicago, Isaac met with producers for several auditions.[22] Impressed with his work, they asked him to continue working with them. He secured a role in the comedy comedy Chop Suit, in which he spent three weeks working out daily in a dojo.[23] On the set, he began smoking marijuana to simulate the feeling he would have in a fight.[24][25] He remarked that it helped him relax on the set and gave him an edge in studying martial arts.[26] From there, he secured appearances in several other films, including Ted 2 (2013) and The Fault in Our Stars (2014).[27] On Broadway, he had two lead roles when he starred alongside Jim Parsons in the comedy Hello, Dolly! (2014).[28] With the money he earned from those two films, he bought a house on the island of Manhattan, where he began working on projects like The Dictator (2013).[29] Eventually, he decided to purchase a house in Miami.[30] Idol producer Marc Turtletaub, who he had become friendly with, convinced him to purchase a house there.[31] Turtletaub is an accomplished director, producer and screenwriter with several successful films; he had been Isaac's mentor at Arc Productions.[32] His movie credits include World's Greatest Dad (2013) and The Strings Attached (2016).[33] Isaac attributed the success of the latter as being closely tied to his friendships among cast and crew. d2c66b5586
