Ac3 Audio Codec [BETTER] Download Mac

Even if AC3 doesn't sound familiar to you, you definitely have used it before as it essentially is Dolby Digital. AC3 is the sound version that you commonly find in AVI, DivX 5.2.1 and XviD files. The technology has evolved extremely quickly over the last few years though and you probably won't have as much trouble playing AC3 files than before. This and the fact that the latest version of Quicktime fully supports Dolby Digital, makes the QT AC3 codec a little obsolete. However if you are running an older version of Quicktime you might find it handy.
I am running QT 10.2 on OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2. I installed an A52/AC3 Codec that is suppopsed to play AC3 Audio in QT. The instruction said to put 1 component in Library/Component and the other in Library/Quicktime. In the System folder there is also a Library/component and Library/Quicktime folders. So where do the QT components go? Do they go in all four folders? I put them in all four folders but quicktime still did not play AVI files with the DOLBY 5.1 audio. The names of the components are A52Codec.component which goes in the component folder and AC3MovieImport.component which goes in the Quicktime folder. I can play the AVI files with VLC but if I want to make a DVD I need the audio to work in QT.
You need to provide more information here. Are you authoring DVDs for playback on a commercial DVD player and/or in DVD media software players? Or are you trying to create "data" DVDs containing video files that play in a QT or other non-DVD media player? If the latter, will you be trying to play the files back directly from the optical media or will you be transferring the files to a hard drive for playback? Also, if making data" DVDs, are you targeting "passthrough" AC3 plaback via an external decoder, internal AC3 downconversion via system output as may or may not be supported by various media player apps, or AAC/AC3 alternative audio streams?
Forget the creating of DVDs. If I can play an AVI file with DOLBY 5.1 (AC3) audio in Quicktime the I can create a DVD that I can use in a DVD player with Toast Titanium. The problem is I can't play these AVI files in Quicktime even with the Codec for AC3 installed. I was questioning where these files are supposed to go. Do they go in the System/Library folder or the Library folder or both.
Your advice helped me get Quicktime to play AC3 (Dolby 5.1) files. I deleted all the files I initially installed and put the files exactly as directed in the instructions. The only other thing I did was to set the Audio Output to Multi-Channel in Perian Preferences. I can now play these type of audio files ion QT. Hopefully now I will be able to create a DVD with audio. I will let you know if it works OK. I am using Toast Titanium 9
The built-in Dolby Digital settings in Compressor (in the Create Blu-ray and Create DVD destinations, as well as in the built-in AC-3 and EC-3 audio settings) use the Dolby Digital transcoding format. This format encodes Dolby Digital (AC-3) and Dolby Digital Plus (EC-3) audio files that contain multiple audio channels, including 5.1 surround sound.
Channel layout: Use this pop-up menu to manually set the type of audio channel layout. For more information about audio channel layouts, including the surround sound channel layout, see Audio channel layouts in Compressor.
Sample rate: Use this pop-up menu to set the number of times per second that music waveforms (samples) are captured digitally. The higher the sample rate, the higher the audio quality and the larger the file size.
Surround EX Mode: When using a 5.1 (L R C LFE Ls Rs), 5.0 (L R C Ls Rs), 4.1 (L R LFE Ls Rs), or 4.0 (L R Ls Rs) layout, this property tells the playback device whether the audio has been encoded in Dolby Digital Surround EX. Choose an option from the pop-up menu:
DC filter: Select this checkbox to apply a DC (direct current) high-pass filter to all input channels. Although this filter provides a simple way to remove DC offsets, note that most mixed audio material is already free of DC offsets.
Once you install Perian, you will get playback but the sound will be stereo, or at best, some variation of Dolby Pro-Logic depending on what you set on the Perian preferences pane. But what you actually want is to get the AC-3 audio from the AVI file straight out to the SPDIF digital out without your Mac doing any alterations (especially not a stereo downmix!)
I tried your method with the command in Terminal and the ac3 file plays fine with VLC. My receiver sees all 5.1 channels on its display. When I play it in QT, I get what sounds like a chattering/static noise. I did change the audiomidi from 24 to 16 with no success.
Using the AC3 testfile from above, I only hear a chattering voice and a loud and partly high pitched noise - but through the correct channels! BTW I tested 3 different AC3 encoded movies in avi and mkv containers as well - same result: very chattering audio.
Hi Francois, I did everything as you said, but i don´t have any audio from digital output, I can hear music and videos or DVD movie on the internal speakers, but when I plug the toslink to my macbook and then to my Yamaha receiver, I don´t have any sound! Do you have some idea? Thank you
my Macbook Pro will not switch off the optical and use the internal speekers no matter what i do - could there be a way to set things back to using internal speekers - using the sound control pan or audio midi setup dont let me change the output to anything but digital,- will switch to headphones but never to internal speakers HELP

REDCODE RAW QuickTime codec supports RT playback in Final Cut Pro and editing of the QuickTime Reference movies generated in camera. The REDCODE RAW QuickTime codec also allows for playback of REDCODE RAW movies directly from QuickTime Player or other QuickTime-enabled applications.
The term MPEG covers more than just a file type; it also defines audio and video compression methods. Perian allows playback of these audio and video compression techniques, but it does not allow the ability to open the MPEG file format. This is due to limitations within QuickTime itself, and we cannot solve it until Apple designs a better interface. See our rdar on the subject.
AC3, stands for Audio Coding 3, is the file extension for surround sound audio files. It was developed by Dolby Laboratories in 1987 for using on DVD and Blu-ray players, HDTV and other home entertainment systems. It contains up to 6 discrete sound channels. Five of which are dedicated for normal-range speakers and the other channel for low frequency.
Unlike MP3, AC3 is not widely supported by media players. Therefore, you need a dedicated AC3 players or AC3 codec for your audio player. We are going to share top 10 best AC3 player applications for computer and smartphone.
Based on our sharing, you should master at least 10 AC3 players for Windows, MacOS, Android and iPhone. As you can see, it is not as difficult as you thought to enjoy high-quality AC3 audio tracks on various devices if you use the right media player. If you are looking for the best way to listen to AC3 audio files, you should try AnyMP4 Blu-ray Player. It is not only easy to use, but also able to play AC3 without extra codecs.
PowerPoint may also support additional file types if you install additional codecs on your PC. If you want to learn about finding codecs for your PC, read Are you having playback issues (in PowerPoint)?
Certain older video file formats may not compress or export properly in Office on a Windows RT PC. Instead, use modern media formats such as H.264 and Advanced Audio Coding (AAC), which PowerPoint 2013 RT supports. PowerPoint 2010 supports the AAC format if the correct codec (such as ffDShow) is installed. Want to see what version of Office you're using?
Once you have a converted media file in a suitable format with the correct encoding, go back to the PowerPoint slide where you want to insert your video or audio file. On the Insert tab of the ribbon, click Audio or Video. (For complete details about inserting the media file, see Insert and play a video file from your computer or Add audio to your slides.)
To make sure you download and install the right custom codecs, you should check the version of your MX player that is running in your media player. After seeing the version, then take the following steps to choose and download the custom codec:
